Here we have Château Couhins’ second wine, which is made from a blend of 74% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Franc.
The wine ages for 12 months in 40% new casks. It offers soft tannins, refined aromas of cedar wood and raspberry, a good elegance on the nose and palate and a harmonious aromatic complexity. A perfect wine to express the elegance of Grave’s great wines – and not least their longevity. This wine will easily be stored for 10-20 years from the harvest year.
2016 Brilliant dark red color, cherry ring. Aromas of raspberry jam, strawberries, smoke, hints of vanilla. Straight but progressive attack, tannins already mellowed, well structured. Flavors of raspberries, blackberries, a little oak and spices. Long caudalies with present and agreeable tannins, bittersweet final. IMPRESSION: Well made wine, can be drink now but it has potential to age. Not sure it would improve much.
